My favorite place here to in Ruidoso New Mexico. Great food, great prices, & great services. Very clean.

The food isn't bad, but when we went there tonight, the service wasn't the greatest. When a drink was made poorly, our server gave us an attitude when we asked to send it back and then didn't remove it from the ticket (we had to ask to have it removed and it became a big ordeal). I don't know if she assumed we were not locals (we are) or if that would have made a difference. It shouldn't though; I would hope they treat everyone the same.

Great food , but not to fond of the service . My order is always given to me wrong and I always call in and get a " we will let the manager know"

The building is ok. A bit dated, but clean. It is not a huge dining area. Note: I did not eat there, just stepped in the take food out. The food was excellent. I had the chicken fajitas. Tasty, just spicy enough, moist, and with plenty of flavorful sides (guacamole, rice, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, beans, lettuce).

Have tried several times now to test the "Occasionally Good" nostrum one hears from local long-timers. Best chips in town! Salsa is chunky not runny! Green sauce and their cheese in combination we find delicious. They made me diced jalapeños on the Grill...yumm! Guacamole tostada a Summer Refresher! Please don't go though.....getting too crowded.

Now this is the real deal for Huevos Rancheros and chilaquiles. It was delicious and the only reason I did not give five stars was due to the dated interior. Very clean!!!

Seeing Jorge's 4 star rating, we thought we'd give it another try. Nope, still not worth a visit, unless you like greasy, overwhelmingly cheesy food. "Fresh" is not a word that comes to mind here. They lost a star from me this time, for several reasons: * They decided to mop the whole front part of the store while the rest of the restaurant was fairly full of customers. While I appreciate the idea of cleanliness, it was not a response to a spill, but was a planned event that spread the unpleasant odor of bleach throughout the restaurant. Not an odor one savors while eating. * The water had a horrible flavor to it. Even a slice of lemon couldn't mask it. Iced tea was likewise bad. * The soft drinks were either flat or syrup-y. * I was really hungry when I went there, so ended eating most of my meal, and I didn't feel too well later. Sorry, Jorge's. I tried to like you.

The restaurant is small, and we weren't even greeted upon entering. We stood there for a while as waitresses ignored us. We finally seated ourselves and were eventually waited on. The food was delicious! The horchata was tasty, the salsa well seasoned and the relleno perfectly crisp. Despite the lackluster service, the food was worth waiting for.

My family told me I had to come here for dinner, so I followed their advice. I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was, but that's a good thing if people are eating the food. I had the chicken fajitas, they were very good. Wife's chimichanga wasn't that great, but the rice and beans were also tasty. Overall, I was pleased and wouldn't shy away from anything on the menu. Clean facilities, very friendly staff. Although this location is a bit odd (attached to a hotel), I'd say it's wroth the visit.

This place was really gross. Everything tasted like it came out of a can or a box. The margarita tasted like febreeze smells, weird. The rice was so overcooked it was just mush. The beans were gritty and dry. We were told by some locals that this was the best Mexican food in Ruidoso. That scared us so much we didn't eat any other Mexican food while in Ruidoso for a week.

I came here specifically for the chilaquilles. I asked around town and this restaurant's name came up. I was not disappointed. I had the supreme chilaquilles with shredded beef...WONDERFUL! My hubby had their special green chili pork. He hummed with delight throughout his meal. The staff was friendly and very attentive. We are from out of town.

Found this place while in town skiing. A bit small and out dated but the food was good. Lots of locals were there. Bring in NM I had to have the green chilie enchiladas. They were good but not what you would think of a traditional green chiles. I give them a 4 out of 5. Wait staff was nice but not really out going or professional. My wife had the steak fajitas and the steak was overcooked and it looked like they used the scraps as all the pieces were small. We had the ice cream for desert which was fantastic. All and I would pass this up for something a bit better next time. Not the worst meal ever just not great.

I had the menudo and it was great. The staff was really friendly and it was cheap. O just so everyone is clear usually Mexican food is greasy. This isnt Soup and Salad. Lol

I spotted this place when visiting the area recently with Gary, my husband. This unique-shaped small building sits in the driveway of a motel, looking very simple. However, I sensed a popularity by the locals for good food in simple ambiance. And I was not let down! Gary and I totally enjoyed our large and delicious Mexican meals. The price was right and you get a lot of good food for the money. It felt like a family-run business, which I always like to support. The server was friendly and helpful. I'm sorry we didn't "discover" it sooner. It was great! Good food does not always have to come in fancy packages! When you travel, check out where the locals go.

Service was absolutely terrible. Waitress got order wrong and began cursing when we asked her to fix it. We didn't get as far as to eat the food. She then refused to take the wrong plates off the ticket. When we did revive the ticket it was over charged by about 30 bucks. After arguing in front of other customers I might add, another waitress came and corrected the ticket. I will never walk into this place again.

Probably one of the if not the best places in Ruidoso. The food is always good. Service good. Can't wait to go back.

I tried this restaurant yesterday on July 13th based on all the positive reviews I saw. After trying it, I have to say that my experience was ok but I was somewhat disappointed. But, the waitress didn't bother to refill our chips or refill our drinks when needed. And, the prices are ok. My order was $7.99 which I thought was good for 3 cheese enchiladas, rice, and beans. But, by the time you add in drinks, tax, any extra add-ons, and tips, it can add up to be a lot. If I can't eat out for less than $10, I don't call that cheap. To me, the prices are fair. I will say that my food was good. I ordered the 3 cheese enchilada plate and thought it was good. Really good taste!! Overall, my experience was ok. And, the taste of the enchiladas is the only reason I'm giving this review 4 stars.

Ordered the Steak a la Mexicana...it was very good! A must try if you stop in for a bite here. The refried beans taste homemade...not that stuff from a can and the rice was not too soupy not too dry. Definitely will be making this a repeat stop!

Great food and great prices. From the pork in green chile sauce to chile rellenos, everything was delicious and priced reasonably. Definitely going back here again!

We tried another local Mexican food place and it was ok but Jorge's was great. The Chipotle sauce is spicey. The chips and hot sauce were addicting. Highly recommend it. Yelp didn't help find it..oddly. It is in the parking lot of a motel best way I think.

Wonderful food and very accommodating! We came in at about 9:30 PM and one member of our party ordered breakfast and they quickly fixed her right up. I however ordered the fajitas and they were great! I do kind of wish that the chips were fresher, but they were okay. Their tortillas, however, are very fresh and delicious! Our waitress did not know any English, but she was very sweet and a great waitress. I highly recommend Jorge's Cafe.

Second time we've eaten here but it's been a while. We were headed out of town and stopped to get a bite. We ended up ordering their green chile cheeseburgers. Now I remember why my subconscious led me back here! They were big and delicious and served with steak fries. Try it--you won't be disappointed!

Don't think the previous ratings are justified. Our waitress was not very good with refills etc. the food was just ok(had chicken fajitas) Maybe New Mexico Mexican food is not Tex Mex, it lacked pizazz, just merely edible

NOT a tourist trap. I love this place! Food is awesome, service could be a little better at times. We come here every time we go to Ruidoso. Just one of those hole-in-the-wall places that you will also fall in love with.........green Chile chicken enchiladas are awesome. As far as ambiance, this is not the place. Your typical Mexican food joint with great food.

Great local place serving great food! The crispy rellenos were prepared well and differently than most places; nice bonus for this New Mexico Native! Green chile Enchiladas were sublime with layers of flavor and texture. Flan was warm, caramelized and homemade. Great experience!

This was by far the best whole in the wall cafe I have ever eaten at. I had the enchiladas suizas & they were excellent! My kids all ate breakfast foods & cleaned their plates, so I'm guessing it was fabulous as well. The salsa was homemade as was all the foods & my only complaint would be that I don't live closer!!!!

  • Lydia E.

Had the chicken enchilada's they were good! Not great but good. Corn tortilla's were awesome! Service was slooooow and the salsa comes in tiny little bowls. Ice tea really good! Place was packed with locals.

Quality Mexican food and at reasonable prices. Wine and beer available. My Corona was the coldest beer I think I've ever been served! The staff is friendly and descriptive about the food. They are willing to chat about the community which boasts skiing in the winter and horse racing in the summer. I will be back again!!
